Arewa Youth Assembly has called for patience and understanding among Nigerians, especially residents of the northern region, following recent power outages affecting several states.

In a statement issued by the speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, the group cited the vandalism of two towers along the 330kV Shiroro–Kaduna transmission lines 1 and 2 as the cause of the outages.
The group lauded the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and its managing director/CEO, Engr. Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, for efforts to restore power.

They highlighted his dedication and commitment to ensuring steady power supply nationwide, noting his distress over the current situation in the North.

“In the face of this crisis, it is disheartening to see a group of individuals exploiting the situation to launch a coordinated smear campaign against Mr. Abdulaziz’s leadership and integrity, further inciting discord within the northern community,” the statement said.

It added that the issue arose from security challenges that hinder repair of the damaged towers, although workers and resources were available amidst accessibility which remained an obstacle due to insecurity.
