African youth leader of the Tijaniyya Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ahmed Umar, has called on Nigerians, especially the youth, to remain patient and hopeful as the nation faces persistent economic and security challenges.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Sheikh Umar urged resilience and unity, emphasising that progress requires time and collective effort.

“Nigeria’s current struggles didn’t appear overnight. It takes a moment to destroy but much longer to rebuild,” he stated, linking some of the current hardships to historical leadership decisions.

The former Kaduna governorship candidate expressed cautious support for the Tinubu administration, with a special interest in initiatives aimed at economic stability.

He highlighted the importance of prayer and hard work as foundational to overcoming the current hardships, especially amid rising fuel prices that have worsened the cost of living for many.

Sheikh Umar also underscored the necessity of improved security in northern Nigeria, stressing that economic recovery hinges on addressing these vulnerabilities.

“Without safety, people cannot farm, travel or carry out daily activities. Security must be a top priority if we are to achieve stability,” he asserted.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s deep faith traditions, he encouraged citizens to turn to God, hoping that collective prayer might bring swift relief.

He suggested exploring food import policies to counter insecurity-driven shortages and re-assessing fuel subsidies to ease economic pressure on citizens.

Sheikh Umar urged Nigerians to persist in patience and resilience, placing their trust in God for a better tomorrow.
