The Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Galaxy Backbone Limited to revolutionise the state’s ICT infrastructure.

Speaking during the signing of MoU yesterday, the state governor Bala Mohammed emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring a “zero-right-of-way” policy for communication companies to foster a robust digital environment in the state.

Mohammed expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that the partnership aligns with his administration’s vision of digital transformation and sustainable development.

He added that the zero-right-of-way policy would significantly reduce the cost and ease the installation of ICT infrastructure, thereby attracting more companies to invest in the state.

Governor Mohammed outlined the key benefits Bauchi State stands to gain from the partnership, which include to provide modern and efficient ICT systems for government and public use.

He said, “The agreement will streamline processes, making government services more accessible and efficient and advanced systems will ensure data is securely stored and managed.”

He added that by embracing ICT, the state aims to attract investments and stimulate economic growth.

With this partnership, Bauchi State is set to emerge as a leader in ICT development in Nigeria, setting a benchmark for other states to emulate.

The initiative is expected to create jobs, improve the quality of life for residents, and position the state as a hub for technological growth.

The event was attended by the managing director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, alongside the company’s management team. Representing the Bauchi State government were the commissioner for Information and Communication, Comrade Usman Garba DanTukari, and the director-general of the Bureau for ICT.
