Lamine Yamal has won the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award for the third time, further underlining his status as one of football’s brightest young stars.
The Barcelona forward emerged victorious ahead of fellow nominees Pau Cubarsí, Yan Diomande, Lennart Karl and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
Former Ballon d’Or winner Andriy Shevchenko presented the award to the 19-year-old at the ceremony.
Yamal expressed his gratitude after receiving the honour but suggested that Barcelona team-mate Cubarsí was also deserving of the award.
“It’s an honour to be here to receive this prize. I think this prize should have been for Pau Cubarsí. He’s been playing at a high level and I think he deserves it,” Yamal said through a translator.
The latest recognition adds to Yamal’s growing list of individual honours as he continues to make his mark on the international stage.
