Senator Shehu Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has commissioned a mosque in Tsakanin Tafawa, a community in Toro local government area of the state.
At the ceremony, a prominent Islamic cleric, Prof Mansur Isa Yalwa, said they started building the mosque a year ago under the Yalwa Foundation where they sought support from various individuals but the work could not be completed.
He added that they sought support from Senator Buba and he donated N10 million for the completion of the mosque. He announced that Buba also promised to build toilet facilities and provide carpet to beautify the mosque.
At the event, Senator Buba announced a donation of another N10 million to begin the building of an Islamic school and pledged to provide potable water and solar electricity in the community.
He lamented that most of the communities in the area are hard to reach and plagued with lack of electricity and potable water.
Senator Buba, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, said, “During my campaign, I have crossed all the roads you are seeing and I know of the challenge of the road networks and the situation of the area.”
