The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has been applauded for supporting the pilgrims and hajj administration in Bauchi State.
The governor’s special adviser on pilgrims’ affairs, Hon Shehu Alhaji Wadaji made this commendation while addressing hajj stakeholders at Shira, Jamaare, Itas Gadau and Giade local government areas of Bauchi State during a statewide hajj sensitisation visit organised by the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Wadaji reminded that the governor has encouraged not only the pilgrims but boosted the confidence of the officials, acknowledging that the gesture is the secret behind a successful 2024 hajj operation.
He stressed that the sensitisation visit was meant to underscore the importance of early registration and to seek collaboration with stakeholders to mobilise and assist intending pilgrims to comply with the 2025 hajj calendar.
Shehu Wadaji emphasised that Bauchi State has received 3,720 slots from National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), expressing concern over relatively poor turnout of registered pilgrims.
He said the 2025 Hajj exercise is approaching with limited time and urged the intending pilgrims to use the grace period to register and make their initial deposit from N6.5 million up to N8.5 million pending the announcement of the final fare by NAHCON.
Shehu Wadaji, therefore, called on the local government councils, traditional institutions, and religious leaders to help disseminate the visit’s contents to their people.
