The director general of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe has revealed that the state government has been able to save about N200billion from operating cost in project executions since it came into office.

He stated this when he played host to the executive and some members of Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on a courtesy visit to his office yesterday, in Asaba, Delta State, saying Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is committed in paying all outstanding loans before the end of his second term of office.

He said the government has repaid about N160 billion of loans it met from the immediate past administration, saying that is why Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has vowed never to leave any loan unpaid before leaving office.

Oghenesivbe said despite the promise by Oborevwori not to leave any loan unpaid he will continue to fulfil his campaign promises as evident in the quality of job being executed in the state.

“Yes, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa took loans but those loans are legitimate loans because they were well debated by the state assembly who equally gave approvals for the loans.

“Government is a continuum and the next government is duty bound to repay those loans. That is why Governor Oborevwori is repaying such loans. He has repaid about N160billion of such loans and that is why the governor has vowed never to leave any loan unpaid before leaving office.

“Today, you can drive from Asaba to Ughelli in less than two hours. Apart from bursary to Delta State students across the country, the governor has undertaken to pay for medical bills of any student in higher institutions across the country.

“In few days from now, the office of the job creation bureau will unveil 2000 youths to be empowered in first phase of its scheme,” he said.

Earlier, the vice chairman of the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ, Comrade Matthew Ochei during the visit appreciated Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe for his open door policy and robust media relations noting that journalists in the state were very pleased with him.
