President Bola Tinubu has sent heartfelt congratulations to elder statesman and renowned professor of Mathematics, Prof Iya Abubakar, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
The educationist and one-time Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was Minister of Defence in the Second Republic. Prof Abubakar also served as Senator representing Adamawa North between 1999 and 2007.
Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga commended Abubakar for his services to his fatherland at different times in his career, acknowledging his achievements in the academia where he made foundational contributions to the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Prof Abubakar has maintained a dignified life in retirement, resorting to mentorship and counselling of the younger ones and those seeking his wisdom and experience.
The President prayed to God to grant the former Senator robust health to continue rendering useful services to the nation.
