FCT Police Arrest 1,077 Suspects In 2024

The FCT Command of the Nigeria Police arrested a total of 1,077 suspects after receiving a total of 1,426 cases in 2024.

Spokesperson of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Abuja.

While giving breakdown of the arrest, SP Adeh said 104 kidnapping cases were reported from which 216 suspects were arrested.

She said 268 armed robbery cases were reported with the arrest of 132 suspects; 263 cases of “One-Chance” robbery were reported, with 71 suspects arrested during the period.

FCT police spokesperson further said 32 cases of cybercrime were reported out of which 15 suspects were arrested while 68 cases of homicide were reported with 78 suspects arrested.

Similarly, 73 cases of burglary were reported and 20 suspects arrested; 385 cases of fraud were reported with the arrest of 422 suspects.

Also, Adeh disclosed that 38 cases of cultism were reported with 59 suspects arrested while 68 cases of Police Misconduct were received at the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU); 127 cases of car theft were also reported with 64 suspects arrested.

The police further stated that 68 kidnap victims were rescued and 19 victims of “One-Chance” were rescued within the period under review.

The FCT police also said it recovered 376 fire arms including 13 AK-47 magazines and 187 rounds of live ammunition;

₦36,850,000 from kidnapping suspects; ₦68,552,000 from armed robbery suspects; ₦19,590,000 from burglary cases; ₦285,000,000 from fraud cases, making it a grand total of ₦409,992,000.

Also, 73 cars were recovered from car theft cases; 24 from “one-chance” robbery cases and two from cultism cases.

It was however, noted that 140 police officers lost their lives in the line of duty and active service between 2023 and 2024.
