In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by Dr Ezrel Tabiowo, Senator Ahmad Lawan’s media adviser, Senator Lawan facilitated and constructed the new radio station, operating on 90.5 MHz, to improve access to quality information and communication services across the region.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Lawan underscored the importance of the radio station in fostering development and promoting rural empowerment within Yobe North Senatorial District.

He also called on the Director General of FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama, to ensure the station’s broadcast signals reach all local government areas in the district.

“The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has a long-standing reputation for providing credible and engaging radio programs. With the launch of Wetland FM 90.5 MHz Gashua, residents will now benefit from a wide range of educational, informational, and entertainment content tailored to their needs and aspirations,” he stated.

“The radio station will play a significant role in promoting rural development and providing a voice for the marginalised. It will also serve as a platform for promoting peace, unity, and understanding among the diverse population in Bade local government area and beyond,” he added.

Senator Lawan also emphasised the station’s economic benefits, noting that it will create employment opportunities for local residents and support entrepreneurship by offering businesses an avenue to advertise their products and services.

The commissioning of Wetland FM marks a significant milestone in the development of Yobe North and reaffirms Senator Lawan’s commitment to improving the lives of his constituents through transformative initiatives.
