Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM) Jos branch, Plateau State, has dissolved its executive council after its emergency Congress meeting and set up a caretaker committee to pilot its affairs until the proper election is held.

MYM, in a statement issued by the publicity secretary Joel Sunday, said the meeting was at the instance of the National Executive Council (NEC), led by the national president Comr. Sunday Dankaka, to address some pressing issues regarding Mr Hamza Iliyasu Garba’s membership status, among others.

According to the statement, due to the executive’s inability to conduct an election before the expiration of their tenure, NEC has constituted a seven-man caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of the MYM Jos branch.
He pointed out that the caretaker committee comprises Nehemiah Fwangmut, Walshak Mwoltit, Posat Mandyen, Fidelis Samben, Maureen Mark, Shehu Nanpan and Pofi Kyermun, secretary, respectively.

The statement further said Mr Hamza Garba’s membership status as an aspirant for the chairmanship position of MYM Jos Branch had been revoked effective December 15, 2024.

MYM further stated that the decision was reached upon the discovery and confirmation that Mr Garba is undoubtedly a Pyam man from Gindiri Chiefdom, against his previous claim as a Mwaghavul man.
He further said Congress also addressed the issue of petitions and court injunctions, adding that the petitioners were fined for failing to copy relevant bodies.

According to the statement, Mr. Garba is required to return all items belonging to the Mwaghavul Youth Movement and stop attending meetings and accessing any MYM social media handle or platform until further notice.
