Policy and Economic Analyst, Hon Taiwo Akerele has condemned those criticising Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s stance on local government administration in Nigeria.
According to Akerele, Oshiomhole’s assertion on the floor of the senate is based on law and constitutionalism, separate from accountability and transparency in governance.
Akerele emphasized that the recent Supreme Court ruling on financial autonomy for local governments is distinct from the issue at stake in Edo state.
He accused Oshiomhole’s critics of ignorance and opportunism, attributing their actions to a culture of attacking the senator rather than focusing on the rule of law, oversight, transparency, and the separation of powers.
In addition, Akerele pointed out the confusion within the opposition camp, citing videos circulated by them as evidence.
He praised Senator Oshiomhole as one of the most effective Senators in the 10th Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly in advocating for social justice, social protection, budget effectiveness, and public sector accountability.
