The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced January 30, 2025 as the new deadline for the registration of individuals intending to participate in 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

In a statement signed by the Board’s spokesperson, Mohammed Aliyu, the extension follows a directive from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to state Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Agencies to complete all financial remittances by February 1.

Aliyu said the Board has already utilised over 40 percent of its Hajj quota since beginning the registration process in September 2024.

He urged prospective pilgrims to take advantage of this extension to make their deposits and benefit from the Board’s exceptional services related to Hajj arrangements.

“To secure a spot, intending pilgrims are required to deposit a minimum of N8, 400,000.00 through a bank draft from any commercial bank, payable to the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abuja,” he said.

This, Aliyu noted can be done across the six area councils and at the Board’s headquarters in the Central Business District of Abuja, pending the announcement of the confirmed Hajj fare by NAHCON.

He emphasised that registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis in adherence to the principle of fairness for all residents of the territory.

The spokesperson further clarified that individuals who previously made deposits but were unable to participate in earlier Hajj seasons must top up their payments to meet the new minimum requirement before the extended deadline to secure their bookings.

Aliyu reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to enhancing services for registered pilgrims through newly implemented strategies for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage.
