Delta state government has queried two Engineers for issuing certificates for uncompleted projects.

He said that knowing the ethics, he would announce their names next week and look at the matter following due process.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori disclosed this on Sunday at the retirement thanksgiving service of the Permanent Secretary/Accountant-General, Delta State Ministry of Finance, Mrs Joy Enwa, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Asaba.

The Governor threatened not to spare any government official who certifies uncompleted or poorly executed projects for payment to ensure Deltans got value for every project executed by the state government,

The Governor, who spoke on the theme of the homily “The choice of a good name,” expressed delight at the message, adding that civil servants in the state should desist from actions that could jeopardise their careers.

“All that the civil servants needed since I came into office I have done for them; what else do they need? If you do well in this government, space will be given to you to do more.”

“After fuel subsidy removal, we paid them transport allowance for three months, we paid promotion arrears of over N5.6 billion, and we were also the first to pronounce and pay the new national minimum wage.”

He added, “As I stand here, I am furious about what civil servants are doing. Two civil servants have been issued queries for issuing certificates for jobs that have not been completed and payments made.

In a sermon on “The Choice of a Good Name”, Bishop Diocese of Asaba, Rt. Rev’d Kingsley Obuh charged everyone in a position of trust to embrace a good name for posterity.

While congratulating the chief celebrant, Mrs Joy Enwa, he called on her to keep radiating the good traits that endeared her to all while in service.

He said a good name could be earned through honourable behaviour, godly wisdom, moral courage and personal integrity. He reminded all that no position was permanent, hence the need to leave enviable legacies while in active service. He advised Enwa to use the remaining years of her life to serve God and humanity.
