The spokesman of the command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the police in collaboration with other security agencies were working to ensure that those abducted were rescued.

“It is true, some people were abducted by gunmen in an early morning attack on Thursday, but men of the joint security forces are working to rescue those abducted. At present, I am yet to ascertain the number of those abducted and whisked away,” he said.

A local source told our correspondent that, “suspected gunmen attacked the community in the early hours of Thursday, when residents were praying at a mosque in Bushe town, Sabon Birni local government area and kidnapped over 10 worshipers including the Imam of the mosque.

“The gunmen had been molesting the people of the community for some time now, but the timely intervention of the security agents had been our saving grace in curtailing the activities of the gunmen.”
