President Bola Tinubu’s son Seyi Tinubu and his friends have donated relief materials worth N100 million to six tertiary institutions affected by last year’s flood. The flood destroyed properties and killed several people in the Maiduguri and Jere local government areas of Borno State due to the collapse of the Alau Dam.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the president’s son and friends made a similar gesture when the flood hit the State. They donated relief material worth N500 million, comprising bags of rice, blankets, spaghetti, bags of beans, and maize, among others, to the Borno State government for onward distribution to the residents affected by the flood.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students and Engagement, Hon. Sunday Adebayo , Seyi during the distribution to the students on Saturday in Maiduguri, said as a committed leader for youth empowerment, and keying into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, irrespective of tribe, religion or political considerations, he collaborated with his friends and provided additional relief items worth N100 million to the affected students in the September 10 flood disaster.

He commended all the SUG leaders, the committee chairman and his team, and security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police, for their unwavering support, which led to the smooth and successful distribution to the affected students, who number 2,800.

Seyi further said that his door is always open to Nigerian youths in giving them hope, as they are the future leaders of tomorrow.

He said the gesture is to cushion the hardship faced by students in the affected institutions, which include the University of Maiduguri, College of Agriculture Maiduguri, College of Nursing Maiduguri, College of Health Maiduguri and Federal College of Fisheries, Baga.

He enjoined the chairman of the committee, his team, and SUG representatives to do justice and transparently distribute the relief items to the real beneficiaries, even as he prayed God to forestall the occurrence of any future natural or man-made disaster in the country.

In their goodwill messages, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Lucky Emonefe, the Senate President of Students Affairs NANS, Comrade Babatunde Akintaye, and the chairman of the committee for the distribution of the items, Comrade Mallam Sadiq, lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving billions of naira as scholarship loans to Nigerian students.
