There seems to be an uneasy calm across Rivers State following the decisions of the Supreme Court to suspend monthly allocations from the Federation Account to the state and nullification of the recently conducted local government elections in the state.

LEADERSHIP observed that residents of the state were moving freely on the streets while only a few individuals were seen in groups discussing the verdict of the apex court.

However, there was an unconfirmed report of looting of chairs and computers by staff of Ahoada-Easf local government area of the state, shortly after the judgement of the apex court.

Also, there was a video that went viral on social media where the chairman of Port Harcourt City local government area of the state was seen patroling the streets of the state capital.

Meanwhile, the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has applauded the Justices of the Supreme Court for their well-considered judgement, which affirmed Amaewhule as the Speaker, and other members of the Assembly as the properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly.
