The Taraba State House of Assembly has approved Governor Agbu Kefas’ request for a N350 billion bond facility. According to a March 24, 2025 letter, the bond will fund developmental activities, including construction projects in several local government areas and housing estates.

The letter, which the speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, John Kizito Bonzena, read, detailed the substantial bond’s intended use. The approval marks a significant step forward for the governor’s planned infrastructural improvements.

However, during the plenary session, a former speaker and member representing Mbamnga constituency, Hon. Abel Peter Diah, raised a critical point urging the assembly to amend the 2025 budget to include the connection of the Taraba Central Zone to the national grid in the budget items.
Diah highlighted that only the central zone of the 16 local government areas currently lacks access to electricity.

He underscored the crucial need for consistent and reliable power provision across the state, which could potentially impact the success of the governor’s development projects.

Responding, the special adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on media and digital communication, Hon Emmanuel Bello, said in a statement that the N350 billion bond would allow for significant infrastructural improvements.
