The Ti’ Bilon Healthcare Foundation (THF) has urged Nigerians to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular exercise, proper nutrition, and preventive health measures to reduce the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other heart-related diseases.

The foundation made this call during a health awareness walk held in Abuja, which aimed to promote the importance of physical activity, hydration, and consuming fruits and vegetables.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Dr. Tochukwu Nnamoko, founder of the foundation and managing director of Ti’ Bilon Construction, emphasized the urgent need for Nigerians to avoid unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle choices that adversely affect vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.

According to him, many young people are becoming increasingly vulnerable to chronic health issues due to a lack of awareness and poor dietary habits.

“Many of the foods we consume are high in starch and cholesterol, which are key contributors to diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure.

Today, we are advocating for more exercise because regular physical activity can significantly reduce the risk of these conditions,” he said.

He listed unhealthy diets, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, stress, and high cholesterol intake as major risk factors for non-communicable diseases. He further stressed the importance of awareness in helping individuals make informed health choices and pledged to continue the foundation’s advocacy efforts.

Also, Pastor Wilson Akubo of the Family Worship Center urged Nigerians to take their health seriously by embracing natural foods and maintaining a balanced diet.

“We are seeing more young people suffering from ailments that were once common only among the elderly. This awareness campaign is crucial. It’s not just about staying active; it’s also about eating well, staying hydrated, getting enough rest, and ensuring that we consume carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats in the right proportions,” he said.

He commended the Ti’ Bilon Healthcare Foundation for its health advocacy initiative and encouraged the organisation to continue spreading the message of wellness across communities.

“This is one of the things that can truly help our people. I love what we are doing, and I believe we must continue with this important work,” he added.
