Former Nigerian international John Utaka has urged the Super Eagles players to remain determined and optimistic about qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
South Africa currently leads Group C with 13 points, while Nigeria finds itself in fourth place with seven points, just one point behind second-placed Rwanda and third-placed Benin, both of whom have eight points after six rounds of matches.
In an interview with Brila FM, Utaka emphasised the need for the players to demonstrate greater commitment and focus in their quest for World Cup qualification.
“With the talent we possess, we should not be in this position. We need to unite and concentrate on realising our World Cup dream. We must show the same determination as other countries.
“In football, anything can happen. We must not give up. I firmly believe we can qualify, but it all hinges on how we approach the upcoming matches.”
