Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has recently paid an inspection visit to the proposed site for the construction of a Centre for Islamic Studies in Funtua.

The initiative, backed by a Kuwait-based humanitarian organization, is set to enhance Islamic education in the state and promote sustainable development through education and faith-based learning.

The facility, once completed, will feature blocks of classrooms, a mosque, an administrative block, and revenue-generating shops to ensure the centre’s long-term maintenance.

During the visit, Governor Radda directed that a portion of land be demarcated from the premises of Government Secondary School Funtua to host the new centre.

He also inspected ongoing renovation work at the Model Quranic School located within the same vicinity.
Speaking during the tour, the Governor expressed the government’s commitment to renovating the remaining classroom blocks in the Quranic school, which currently serves over one thousand students.

Earlier, the Director of the Islamic Education Bureau, Mallam Salisu Abdullahi Bakori, who conducted the Governor around the site, disclosed that representatives of the Kuwait-based organization had already assessed the location and are scheduled to begin construction by the end of next month.

Mallam Bakori further revealed that part of the five million naira earlier released by the state government has been utilized to renovate two out of the four blocks at the existing Model Quranic School.

The project is expected to strengthen Islamic education in the region while contributing to youth development and religious harmony.
