Remo Stars have clinched their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Olamilekan Adedapo’s strike in the 84th minute sealed the historic title for the Sky Blue Boys as a volcanic celebration erupted at the stadium.
It was actually a double celebration for the Ogun State-based football club and a perfect gift as its founder, Kunle Soname, coincidentally marks his 59th birthday on the same day.
After consecutively finishing 3rd position in the 2021/22, and 2nd position in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Remo Stars have finally engraved their name in gold in the history of the NPFL.
It is the first trophy for a privately-owned club in 20 years and the first title for a South-West-based club since Julius Berger in 2000.
