This forms part of efforts to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality in the state.
The executive secretary of Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Prof. Nusirat Elelu, disclosed this during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, the state capital.
Elelu said the state government will continue to ensure pregnancy and childbirth remain safe for women and children across the state.

She stressed that providing clean delivery kits is an essential initiative that addresses a critical need within the communities, noting that access to clean and hygienic delivery materials is a matter of healthcare and a fundamental right that every expectant mother deserves.

She added that the availability of the kits to pregnant women is a crucial step towards improving the state’s maternal and infant health outcomes.

Elelu said that her agency was aware of the challenges faced by expectant mothers, particularly those from underserved communities, such as a lack of access to basic healthcare supplies, which contributes to preventable complications during childbirth.

Elelu stressed that the initiative emanated from the state government and was supported by the World Bank IMPACT project, aiming to prioritise the provision of essential resources to bridge the gaps and promote positive health outcomes in the state.
