Inter have set their sights on Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul, viewing him as the ideal midfielder to bolster their squad.

According to Fichajes, the club considers De Paul the ideal man they need to sign to rejuvenate their midfield. Despite being held in high regard by Atleti, the Italian club believes a deal can be struck with the Liga giants.

De Paul has amassed plenty of experience playing in different leagues, which makes the Serie A club more assured that he would fit in easily. Indeed, the Argentine spent five years in Serie A with Udinese, eventually captaining the side in 2020.

However, it won’t be easy to get Atletico Madrid to sign off on the deal, as Diego Simeone considers De Paul an integral part of the squad. That said, Financial Fair Play and the need to balance the books might push the Madrid board to accept the deal for the right price.

De Paul’s contract expires in 2026. With a good deal of interest coming from the Italian side, it might be the right time to sell the Argentine.

It’s also known that the midfielder was contemplating a move to Saudi Arabia after the 2022 World Cup win, and it might be time for the Spanish club to let go now, rather than lose him for free.
