A coalition of youth organisations from Southern Nigeria has formally launched a political advocacy movement to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The group, known as the Coalition of Southern Nigeria Youth Groups for Asiwaju 2027 (COSONYGA-2027), was unveiled today at a press conference in Abuja.

Delivering the keynote address, the executive director of COSONYGA-2027, Rt. Hon. Rikki Nwajiofor, said the initiative was driven by “patriotic young leaders, grassroots influencers, tech innovators, and social crusaders” across the 17 Southern states of Nigeria.

He described the group as a “structured, policy-driven youth movement” committed to ensuring continuity of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. We are not just launching a group — we are igniting a movement.

A movement built on vision, legacy, and continuity. A movement that recognises a leader who has shown political courage, innovation, and unmatched leadership prowess,” Nwajiofor declared.

He highlighted several youth-focused achievements of the current administration, including the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) digital training initiative, the reintroduction of the Student Loan Act, expanded youth inclusion in governance, and investments in the creative and sports economy.

According to Nwajiofor, Tinubu’s policies are “not rhetoric, but action-driven and results-oriented.”

COSONYGA-2027, he said, aims to build a formidable grassroots network across the South-West, South-South, and South-East zones, targeting every senatorial district, local government, and political ward.

The group also plans to conduct empowerment programs, leadership training, voter registration drives, and strategic media campaigns to galvanize youth participation in the 2027 elections.

Representing the president of the Senate at the event, Comrade Solomon Adodo, commended the coalition and announced the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, as Grand Patron of COSONYGA.

Adodo praised the synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government, attributing recent macroeconomic and development gains to this cooperation.

“Nigeria came from very troubled waters. Mr. President demonstrated courage, and the President of the Senate led the National Assembly to cooperate with the executive. Together, they’re transforming rural areas through development commissions across the six geopolitical zones,” he said.

President of the National Youth Council (North Central), Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile, also urged civil society groups, labour unions, and other youth organizations to support the administration’s efforts at national development.

“The task is one — to build a new and greater Nigeria. If the government fails, we all fail. If it succeeds, we all succeed” Akoshile said.

COSONYGA-2027’s mission, the organizers reiterated, is to foster youth inclusion in politics, promote civic engagement, and consolidate support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The group called on private sector partners, civil society, and development agencies to collaborate in expanding youth opportunities across Nigeria.

“This Coalition is our pledge, our declaration, and our commitment to continuity and youth-driven progress,” Nwajiofor concluded. “We are not waiting for the future — we are building it.”
