The incident, which occurred around 10:30 PM on June 23, 2025, left three persons injured, with one victim later confirmed dead.

Spokesperson of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the arrest was made after acting on a distress call from a commercial motorcycle rider, reporting heavy gunfire in the area.

The divisional police officer of Apo Division, CSP Uchenna Igwebuike, immediately deployed Ambush and Surveillance Teams to the scene. A reinforcement led by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, also joined, forcing the assailants to flee after a gun duel.

The police explained that three victims injured by the attackers were taken to Sahad Hospital, Apo. One later succumbed to his injuries. A light green Toyota Corolla with plate number GWA 620 AU was recovered from the scene.
