Traditional Title: APC Chieftain Was Never Reinstated – Group

A political group under the umbrella body of APC Patriotic Volunteers has clarified that Usman Alhaji, the former secretary to the Kano state government and APC Chieftain, was not reinstated as the Wazirin Gaya after the dissolution of the first-class emirates in the state.

In a statement signed by Ibrahim Dan Azumi Gwarzo, the group described the recent reports of his withdrawal as the Wazirin Gaya by the Emir of Gaya as ‘shocking news’.

According to the statement, “Firstly, you may recall that members of the Kano State House of Assembly promulgated a law banning all the first-class Emirs / Emirates in the state. Upon that, Alhaji Usman Alhaji was appointed the Waziri of Gaya Emirate.

“Secondly, the banning and dissolution of Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi first-class emirates/Emirs was followed by the establishment of second-class emirates/emirs respectively.
“This action was why Wazirin Gaya Alhaji Usman Alhaji and other traditional title holders numbering over 100 stayed away from their respective palaces.

“Thirdly, the Emir of Gaya made a formal request to the Governor for approval to reinstate some title holders, including Alhaji Usman Alhaji as the Wazirin Gaya, but some names were denied approval, Alhaji Usman Alhaji inclusive, a situation we viewed as having a political undertone.

“Worthy to note is that, even if Alhaji Usman Alhaji was the Waziri of Gaya, withdrawal of his title entail processes i.e warning him over a misconduct, charging him as well as his right of defense as per the provisions of the Emirate laws, failure to observe these of course is wrong and unjust.

“We can’t understand why the Emir of Gaya singled out the withdrawal of the title of Alhaji Usman Alhaji as Wazirin Gaya, knowing fully well that it is not only the Waziri that was denied approval, the statement noted
