2 Kidnappers’\ Informants Arrested In Kogi

Kogi State government has disclosed the arrest of two more kidnapping informants in Okunland in the western senatorial district of the state.

A statement by the commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, which was made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday, revealed the arrest of the suspected informants.

he said it was made possible by the confessional statement of one Babatunde Aledare, who was earlier arrested and detained by security agents.

The suspected informants are Dare Okegbe and Lakutu Omobab Ajelesimi, all from Ayetoro Kiri.

They confessed to working with kidnappers to set up members of their community for abduction.

The statement reads, “The Kogi State government wishes to inform the public that Babatunde Aledare, the suspected kidnapping informant earlier arrested in Ayetoro Kiri, Kabba/Bunu local government area, has made confessional statements and revealed the identities of other collaborators in aiding kidnapping operations in the area.

“Following his confession, two more informants have been arrested in the last 48 hours: they’re Dare Okegbe and Lakutu Omobab Ajelesimi,” he  said.

“Both suspects are also from Ayetoro Kiri and have confessed to working with kidnappers to set up members of their own community for abduction.

 

“This development marks another significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks in Okunland. More arrests may follow as investigations continue.

 

“The Kogi State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and will leave no stone unturned in the fight against criminality.”
