The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has stressed the need for stakeholders to unite, pool resources, and re-strategise against banditry and other security challenges.

The Royal Father, who received the new Commissioner of Police to the state, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi-Elleman, during a visit, noted that security was the collective responsibility of all law-abiding Nigerians.
He said that security was a shared responsibility that demanded the active involvement of traditional institutions and the citizenry.

“Due to the increasing security issues faced, there is a need to look inward and come together, contribute resources and re-strategise on how to tackle security challenges facing the State,” the Etsu said
While saying the task of providing security for Nigerians’ lives and property should not be left to security agencies and the government alone, he added that ‘’All the citizens, including myself, owe it a duty to assist the various security agencies in ensuring that they function effectively and diligently.’’

He added, ‘’This is to ensure that Nigerians go to their beds with their two eyes closed,’’ said the first-class traditional ruler.

Therefore, the Etsu Nupe promised sustained support for the police and other sister security agencies from the state’s traditional institution.
