All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has mourned the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The party also endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for a second term in 2027.
The party stated this during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Governor Eno at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.
The meeting also condoled with President Tinubu, the government and people of Katsina State, as well as the family of Buhari over his death last Sunday.
Stakeholders paid glowing tributes to Buhari’s legacy and offered prayers for his family and the nation.
In his address, Eno called for unity and reconciliation within the party, urging leaders to “forget the past, forgive one another, and forge ahead together.
“We must work to build the party in unity and togetherness. We have come with open minds and open hearts so that we can unite our state,” he said. “Politics is a game of give and take, we must see it as such,” he stressed.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio described Governor Eno as “a man of peace on a mission to unite Akwa Ibom,” and encouraged him to remain resolute in his developmental vision for the state.
APC state chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, pledged the full support of the party to Eno as its leader in the state and assured that the party structure would be mobilized to ensure his success.
Stakeholders, including Chief Don Etiebet, Senator Effiong Bob, and Chief Assam Assam (SAN) commended Governor Eno’s bridge-building efforts, describing the meeting as unprecedented in the political history of the state.
A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting outlined 10 key resolutions, including a unanimous vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno. The trio were also adopted as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The communiqué also commended President Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, applauded Senator Akpabio’s development strides in the South-South region, and reaffirmed support for the leadership of Obong Stephen Ntukekpo in managing the party’s affairs in the state.
The stakeholders’ meeting reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to unity, growth, and a renewed political direction under governor Eno’s inclusive leadership.
Other stakeholders at the meeting included the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Members of the National and State Assemblies, former Deputy Governors, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, and Chief Assam Assam, SAN.
