The youth games, which will take place from 29th August to 6th September, will feature over 30 sporting events, including weightlifting.

On Monday, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation informed all coaches, stakeholders, and officials that it would enforce the new bodyweight categories as approved by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

In a press release signed by the media officer, Amaechi Agbo, the Federation directed all coaches and State Associations to ensure that their athletes registered for the NYG comply with the new bodyweight categories.

A total of six bodyweight categories, comprising three each for men and women, will be featured in the weightlifting event at the NYG Asaba 2025.
