The decision comes amid public outrage after document surfaced linking the Commissioner to the suspect’s release.

In response to the outrage, Governor Yusuf constituted a special investigative committee to probe the matter and recommend immediate action.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor named Barrister Aminu Hussain as the chairman of the committee.

Hussain currently serves as the Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters to the Kano State governor.

The committee is “mandated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and recommend appropriate actions with immediate effect.”

Governor Yusuf expressed deep concern over the allegations and reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for drug abuse and social vices.

LEADERSHIP reports that Kano State Commissioner for Transport initially stood at surety to fulfill the bail conditions set by the court for the suspect.

However, due to mounting public outrage, Namadi withdroodew as the suspect’s surety, citing private and image issues as reasons for his withdrawal.

The Commissioner further stated that his decision to stand for the suspect as a surety was not with any sinister intention.
