2 Killed In Adamawa Domestic Violence

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested one Ijai Anthony and Idi Buba for allegedly killing two persons in Madagali and Gombi local government areas.

The command’s public relations officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said police have begun an investigation into two incidents of culpable homicide arising from domestic violence in the two councils.

Nguroje told LEADERSHIP that the first incident occurred in Pallam District, Madagali LGA. He said preliminary investigation revealed that a physical combant ensued between two co-wives, Rhoda Anthony, 55, and Victoria Anthony, 36, who are married to one Anthony Pallam.

Nguroje said during the altercation, Victoria’s son, Ijai Anthony,16, reportedly hit his stepmother, Rhoda Anthony, on the head with a piece of wood, causing her to collapse.

Upon receiving the report, Nguroje said the divisional police officer (DPO) in Madagali mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Madagali, where she  was confirmed dead.

The suspect and his mother have been taken into protective custody as the investigation progresses.

The command is probing one  Idi Buba who attacked his biological father, Buba Jelli, by stabbing him on the neck and back with a knife, following a domestic altercation in Fotta in Gombi LGA.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Primary Health Care Centre in Fotta, where he sadly died while receiving treatment.

The suspect was arrested at the scene of the incident. The knife he used in the attack has also been recovered to be used as an exhibit in his prosecution.

The commissioner of police, Dankombo Morris, condemned the heinous acts, especially those involving family members.

He called on the residents to always exercise restraint, avoid taking the laws into their hands and seek peaceful means of resolving conflicts.

The command spokesperson added that investigation are ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon the police completion of their interrogation..
