The Katsina State Executive Council has approved a sweeping ₦23.8 billion investment package for key development projects across the healthcare, security, infrastructure, and hospitality sectors.

The approvals were made during the Council’s 9th regular meeting held at the Government House, presided over by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, with Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda participating virtually.

One of the major decisions was upgrading the Comprehensive Health Centre in Mai’adua local government to a full-fledged general hospital.

The ₦1.3 billion project is expected to significantly improve healthcare access, particularly for women and children in the area, and ease the burden on overstretched tertiary facilities.

To further bolster healthcare delivery and staff safety, the council approved ₦703 million for reconstructing and fortifying perimeter fences in 14 general hospitals in frontline areas vulnerable to security threats. The move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the safety and resilience of public health institutions.

To improve connectivity and stimulate economic activity, the Council also sanctioned the construction of the Rafin Iya–Tashar Bawa–Sabua road at the cost of ₦18.5 billion.

According to the commissioner for works and housing, Engr. Dr Sani Magaji Ingawa, the road is strategic for facilitating agricultural movement, enhancing trade routes, and supporting security operations across key communities.

Meanwhile, the state’s tourism and hospitality sector received a major boost with the approval of a ₦2.626 billion public-private partnership deal with Omo Resort to revitalise the Katsina Motel.
The arrangement includes a lease payment of ₦600 million over 10 years, ₦2 billion for complete redevelopment, and provisions for settling existing liabilities.
Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Kaita, described it as a landmark decision to restore a vital hospitality asset and generate economic benefits for residents and visitors.

Further strengthening the state’s security architecture, the Executive Council approved ₦747 million for constructing a new security consultative centre in Katsina.

The centre is designed as a permanent venue for strategic coordination and multi-agency collaboration. Commissioner for Information, Dr Bala Salisu Zango, stated that the facility would later be handed over to the federal government as a central hub for security operations in the state.

All the projects align with Governor Radda’s comprehensive development blueprint, “Building Your Future,” emphasising inclusive governance, infrastructure growth, and citizen-centred investments.

The approvals reflect the administration’s determination to deliver tangible improvements across all sectors of public life, particularly in areas where local needs are most pressing.
