The head of mission, Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria, Andy Yih-Ping Liu, highlighted the importance of socio-economic interventions and education in societal development, noting that Taiwan’s significant technology breakthroughs make it a global role model.

He stated that his country’s cooperation extends to several areas, including socio-economic interventions in Nigeria, and that people should be supported to realise their dreams and contribute to national and international development.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds to enhance their socio-economic well-being, adding that nine beneficiaries received ₦100,000 each, while 2 received ₦50,000 each.

The executive secretary of the NHRC, Dr Tony Ojukwu, OFR, SAN, expressed gratitude to the Taipei Trade Office in Nigeria for its support, stating that the partnership is a shining example of how international cooperation can yield real benefits for vulnerable societies.

He urged the beneficiaries to see the program as a stepping stone and not the destination, adding that the commission always shares survivors’ pain and is willing to offer more support.
