Troops of “Operation Hadin Kai” Joint Task Force in the North East Zone have neutralised 13 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in a failed ambush and improvised explosive device (IEDs) attack on a military convoy at Kareto in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar local government area in northern Borno State.

According to credible military sources, the failed ambush occurred on Wednesday when the troops were escorting humanitarian trucks on Gubio-Damasak Road.

The terrorists, according to the sources, detonated two IEDs, followed by a high volume of fire.

However, the troops swiftly took position and suppressed the insurgents with overwhelming firepower, eliminating 13 of them instantly, while others fled.

The troops further engaged the terrorists in a pursuit, exploited the area and recovered 8 AK-47 rifles, 10 AK-47 rifle magazines and a large cache of 7.62 mm ammunition.
