The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), in partnership with ActionAid Nigeria, has established an ICT centre in Kaida Sabo Community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to bridge the gap between rural youths and modern technology.

The facility, part of CITAD’s Local Rights Programme, is the sixth of its kind in the FCT, with more being planned. It is aimed at ending analogue learning in underserved communities by providing access to digital education, innovation and skills for sustainable development.

Speaking at the unveiling, CITAD’s programme officer and team lead, Yasmin Salako Ejiwumi, highlighted the urgency of digital access.

“Everything is becoming digital. WAEC, NECO, and JAMB are now computer-based. We realized the urgent need to bridge the digital divide, especially among youth in underserved areas,” she said.

Ejiwumi noted that the centre would serve not just Kaida Sabo but also neighboring communities, including Kaida Soho, Dobi, and Rafin Zurfi—opening up market opportunities and boosting digital literacy.
