The Plateau Progressive Movement (PPM) has urged the Senate to relieve Senator Shehu Umar Buba of his chairmanship of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

However, Senator Buba’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, dismissed the call, describing it as a political campaign to tarnish the senator’s image.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Dachum Daniel Kajang, the group said the call was necessary to safeguard public confidence in the legislature.

According to PPM, the leadership of sensitive committees requires individuals whose credibility is unquestionable.

It argued that retaining Buba in the position could affect citizens’ trust in the National Assembly.
The statement added, “Our position is that the Senate should act swiftly to ensure accountability and transparency in handling matters that affect the security and well-being of Nigerians.”

Kajang explained that the movement would continue to advocate for integrity in public office and promote democratic values in Plateau and beyond.

When contacted, Senator Buba’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, dismissed the statement, describing it as a political campaign to tarnish the senator’s image.

Muhammad maintained that Buba remained focused on his duties as the only All Progressives Congress senator from Bauchi State, stressing that the lawmaker would not be distracted by what he called attempts to undermine his achievements.
