Igede Won’t Be Sidelined Under My Watch – Onah

Hon. Blessed Onah, the member representing Oju I State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, has said the Igede Nation will never be silenced or pushed aside under his watch.

Speaking with uncommon courage, Onah condemned the recent exclusion of the Igede people from the state’s Christian pilgrimage to Israel, describing the action as an affront to fairness and a deliberate attempt to relegate a proud people to the background. He vowed that no policy of exclusion will go unchallenged, declaring that equal participation in all state programmes is a right, not a privilege.

The lawmaker also pressed for the recognition of Egboja Fortune Iji, an Igede son who distinguished himself as one of the best WAEC performers in Benue State. Onah stressed that celebrating such brilliance is not mere protocol but a moral duty that ensures young talents are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Egboja’s admission into a private university in Abuja, he said, stands as proof that when excellence is recognised and nurtured, it transforms both lives and communities.

Onah’s stance has resonated far beyond the Igede Nation, drawing admiration from across Benue. His interventions have further solidified his standing as a principled leader who chooses courage over convenience and justice over compromise.
