Folashade Oluwafemiayo has made headlines once again by setting a new African and world records at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

The esteemed Nigerian athlete lifted an impressive 168kg in the women’s over 86kg category, surpassing her previous world record and earning two gold medals in both the total lift and best lift events.

This achievement comes on the heels of her success at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, making her a four-time world champion and solidifying her status in para powerlifting.

In a competitive environment, China’s Wenjun secured the silver medal with a total lift of 157kg, while Iran’s Nikoo Rozbahani took home the bronze with 152kg.

Following her remarkable performance, Oluwafemiayo expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her coaches, teammates, the Weightlifting Federation, and the Nigerian Sports Commission for their unwavering support throughout her journey.
