The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) has set up a 14-man committee to drive President Bola Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda, even as it reelected Dr Chris Akomas for a second term.

Akomas, a former deputy governor of Abia State, accepted his reelection during a speech to inaugurate the Renew Hope Agenda Peer Review Group (RHAPRG) yesterday in Abuja. He said they wanted Tinubu to return in 2027.

He said the committee would serve as a strategic advisory body to assess, evaluate and guide the effective implementation of the Agenda.

He emphasised that the RHAPRG’s goal was to ensure that the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda were achieved efficiently and equitably while identifying challenges that could hinder progress.

Akomas added that the committee’s recommendations would serve as an advisory mechanism to the government and citizens, promoting accountability and inclusiveness in governance.

“The balance provided by this mechanism will help the Federal Government to reorganise resources where necessary and ensure the timely completion of projects,” he said.

Also, a former deputy governor of Kogi State, Isah Ozi Salami, who also doubled as the newly inaugurated chairman of the RHAPRG committee, said members were carefully selected to represent all the geopolitical zones, to see to the government’s shortcomings, and to advise through the FFDGN  on the successful governance of the country.
