TikTok has unveiled its list of Nigeria’s top Songs of the Summer 2025, with ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by BhadBoi OML taking the number one spot after dominating feeds and inspiring countless trends across the platform.

Announcing the list in a statement on Tuesday, Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, described BhadBoi OML’s success as a celebration of cultural innovation in contemporary Nigerian music.

“The album BhadBoi stood out and gained popularity on the platform, stemming from its unique cultural fusion,” Mustapha said.

“It masterfully blends a modern pop sound with traditional Yoruba influences from Fuji music, exemplifying how artists are redefining Afrobeats through authentic fusion.”

According to Mustapha, the 2025 ranking reflects the diversity and vibrancy of Nigeria’s evolving soundscape, with both mainstream Afrobeats and genre-bending fusions shaping the year’s musical trends.

“While Nigerian artists like Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena topped the charts with their high-energy anthems, the top ten also featured gospel-inspired hits and sounds from across Africa, including South Africa and Uganda, that resonated deeply with Nigerian audiences,” he explained.

Mustapha highlighted TikTok’s role as a cultural incubator, where creators, fans, and artists collectively influence trends and musical discovery in real time.

“TikTok is where music truly comes to life. It’s a space where songs are discovered, collective enjoyment is cemented, artists grow, and opportunities open up in ways that were not possible before,” he said.

He added that the Songs of the Summer chart underlines the platform’s impact in breaking boundaries and elevating local sounds to global stages, reinforcing its importance in the Nigerian and African music ecosystem.

The 2025 top 10 list also emphasised the power of collaboration, with six joint projects making the cut.
These include, “99” by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn & Daecol, “With You” – Davido & Omah Lay and “Gaddem” – Rybeena & Shoday

Mustapha noted that Amapiano’s influence remains undeniable, citing “Ngishutheni” by Goon Flavour, Master KG & Eemoh as a standout cross-continental hit that continued to dominate challenges and dance content.

He also pointed to a growing appetite for emotionally driven songs, noting that tracks such as Chella’s “My Darling” found viral success for their soulful and inspirational appeal.

“These songs captured the creativity and vibrance at the heart of Nigeria’s youth culture,” Mustapha said. “More than just rankings, the Songs of the Summer list highlights how TikTok continues to empower authentic, culturally rooted music to find global audiences.”

The platform’s latest report reinforced its influence as one of the most powerful engines driving Nigerian music discovery, collaboration, and global recognition in 2025.
