A non-governmental organisation, Passion for Peace Initiative, (PPI) has stressed the importance of mentoring secondary school students to help them realise their goals in life.

The executive director of PPI, Amb. Joel Jimoh, made the call yesterday at an illumination and mentorship programme organised for students of selected secondary schools at St. Joseph Centenary School Ilorin, Kwara State.

Jimoh urged the students to see mentorship as a catalyst for change and an advantage to learn, grow, and prepare for leadership roles in the future.

He disclosed that the initiative was aimed at guiding the students to overcome whatever challenges they might encounter in academics and in the course of building their careers.

Jimoh promised that the PPI  would run a one year mentorship service for SS2 students across 10 registered schools on their chosen careers.

He commended the engaged mentors and teachers for their commitment to achieving the set goals.

The state director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. AbdulGaniyu Dare advised the students to be disciplined, determined, and be of good character to achieve success in life.

Dare, who was represented by the deputy director in the agency, Mr Solomon Kolo, encouraged the mentees to manage their time well, embrace self-reliance, and acquire skills that will prepare them for a better future.

In her remarks, the  principal of St Joseph Centenary School Ilorin, Mrs Elizabeth Afolayan, thanked the organisers for their commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and urged the students to embrace the opportunity to learn and grow.
