Jigawa Commends Sasakawa Support For Agricultural Transformation

The Jigawa State government has expressed its appreciation for the significant impact of the Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) in transforming the state’s agricultural sector, improving livelihoods, and building climate resilience.

The Managing Director of the Jigawa Agricultural Mechanisation Agency, Dr. Saifullahi, commended the organization when a team from Sasakawa visited his office in Dutse.

He noted that the state government recently renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sasakawa in recognition of its positive impact on the state’s agricultural sector.

“Beyond supporting rural farmers with seeds and other inputs, Sasakawa also provides technical training to our Agricultural Extension Workers,”This builds their capacity to disseminate new farming techniques and gather feedback from the fields for further research.” Dr Saifullahi stated

In his remarks, the Sasakawa Deputy Country Director, Dr. Abdulhamid Gambo, stated that the team was in Jigawa on a media tour to assess the impact of their interventions.

He explained that the goal was to collect testimonials from beneficiary communities for data generation, strategic planning, and public enlightenment to sustain progress and make necessary adjustments.

He assured the Jigawa State government of Sasakawa’s continued collaboration in boosting food production to achieve sustainable food security and improved livelihoods.

During a joint tour of Taura, Dutse, and Birnin Kudu local governments by the Sasakawa team and local journalists, beneficiary communities displayed various products they had made, which extend and improve the value chain of their agricultural produce.

The communities also exhibited food items processed using simple technology that enhances product quality and hygiene.

Furthermore, community members took journalists to their farms to showcase how Sasakawa’s support has provided them with access to new farming techniques and modern implements. This support has transformed their agricultural practices, leading to increased yields and profits.
