Foundation Leads National Drive For Safer Internet Use Among Youth

The Ndukwe Kalu Foundation (NKF) is planning the 2025 edition of its flagship Child Online Safety Protection and Reporting of Abuse (COSPRA) Summit to address internet abuse in the country. Themed ‘Empowering Digital Citizens: Building a Safer Online Generation, ‘ the summit is sponsored by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) and will bring together Nigeria’s leading voices in technology, education, and child protection to address one of the nation’s most urgent challenges that ensuring a safer digital space for children and young people.

However, key implementing partners and co-sponsors include: the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Internet Society (ISOC),  National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the Lagos State Education Board. Together, they aim to spark a national movement toward responsible and ethical digital citizenship.

According to the executive secretary of the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation, Ms Erica Okibe, “COSPRA isn’t just another summit, it’s a clarion call to action. We are uniting institutions, parents, and digital stakeholders to empower our young people to thrive safely and responsibly in the online world”

Now in its flagship phase, COSPRA has evolved into a rallying point for government agencies, educators, innovators, and advocates committed to combating online abuse, misinformation, and child exploitation.

Meanwhile, the 2025 edition will feature interactive panels, policy dialogues, youth innovation showcases and the signing of a national pledge for child online safety, scheduled to hold on November 20, 2025, at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos.

 

The group added that, “as Nigeria’s digital landscape continues to expand, it will serve as a powerful reminder that protecting children online is not optional, it’s essential”
