Soba Named Best Performing Council In Agriculture

Soba local government area of Kaduna State has been named the Best Performing Local Government in Agriculture by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to food production and rural development.

The award was presented at the end of the 47th National Council on Agriculture and Food Security (NCAFS) which held in Kaduna.

It celebrated Soba LGA’s remarkable achievements in agricultural transformation and its support for the state and nation’s food security agenda.

According to the citation accompanying the award, Soba stood out for its effective farmer support programmes, improved extension services and impressive productivity gains, which have boosted local food production and improved the livelihoods of rural farmers.

Reacting to the recognition, Soba council chairman, Hon. Muhammad Lawal Shehu (Molash), dedicated the award to Governor Uba Sani, crediting the governor’s visionary agricultural policies and incentives for the success recorded across the council.

He noted that the distribution of free fertiliser, pesticides, weedicides, tractors and other farming inputs by the state government had greatly enhanced productivity and encouraged smallholder farmers to expand cultivation.

Hon. Shehu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening agricultural reform, expanding mechanised farming, and promoting sustainable practices that would make Soba a model for rural development and food sufficiency in Nigeria.
