The Katsina State Government has summoned an Islamic cleric, Yahaya Masussuka, over alleged contraventions of the general principles of Islamic law during his regular teachings and preachings in the state.

The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Abdullahi Faskari, in a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Almu-Gafai, on Tuesday in Katsina.

According to the statement, the government had earlier received complaints that Masussuka’s teachings and preachings contravened the general principles of Islamic law.

He noted the State government also received another complaint from the side of Masussuka, that members of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidia Wa Ikhamatu Sunnah (JIBWIS) were insulting and threatening to attack him.

He said in a bid to resolve the matter, the concerns were referred to the Katsina Emirate Council, where both parties were invited for discussions.

“At the end of which, the Emir, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir-Usman, admonished that nobody is permitted to conduct preaching and teachings in such a way as to offend another,” the statement added.

The statement, therefore, sais Governor Dikko Radda has directed that Masussuka, who goes by alias Peace Ambassador, be prepared to defend himself on the allegations before a Committee of Ulamas.
