Nine people have died and six others wounded in a road accident which occurred a few distance after River Benue Bridge in Hayin-Gada in Adamawa State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials from RS3.13 Girei Unit Command in charge of Yola-Song Road, confirmed the incident, yesterday.

An eye witness, Kwaji Lenos, said that the accident occurred, when a tipper loaded with sand from Hayin Gada lost control, due to brake failure and rammed into five shops, where charcoal traders and vulcanisers operate by the roadside.

An official of RS3.13 Girei Unit, who doesn’t want his name mentioned, said the injured have been taken to the Specialist Hospital, Yola for treatment.

“No fewer than nine people died, even as FRSC officials who are involved in the rescue operation are yet to come back from the scene of the accident,” he said.
