Jigawa Approves N4.3 Billion For Scholarship, Hajj Operations

Jigawa state government has approved N4.3 billion for payment of students scholarship and 2026 Hajj operation.

The Commissioner Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting.

He explained that,N1,303,545,686.00 was approved for the payment of 19,716 students 2024/2025 bursary in line with the state government’s education policy.

The commissioner noted that the beneficiaries are students studying at various high institutions across the country, and the amount payable to each student will cover minimum of 50% of their annual registration fee.

” The 19,716 beneficiaries have already been screamed. The include: 12,638 males and 7,088 females from 77 tertiary institutions across the country ” Sagir stated.

The commissioner also disclosed that the council approved the release of N2,651,596,547.52 to the state pilgrim”s Welfare Board for 2026 Hajj operations.

He noted that, the funds will cover logistics, welfare, medical services, administrative arrangements, and other components needed to ensure a smooth and hitch free Hajj exercise..
