Customs Intercept 16Kg Heroine, Others In Ogun

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko Border, has intercepted 16 wraps of white substance identified as heroin, weighing 16kg, alongside 11 other wraps of narcotics, said to be Crystal Meth (ICE), weighing 12 kg, being smuggled into the country through the area.

The command’s acting deputy comptroller, Oladapo Afeni, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Wednesday on the activities of his command within the past 11 days, following his assumption of leadership of the command.

Ayeni, who gave the Duty Payable Value (DPV) of the entire seizures at N463 Million, explained that other hard drugs intercepted along the narcotics included Cannabis Sativa of varying sizes, which included: 128 doughnut size units; 2,752 coconut size units, as well as 401 booklet size units, all weighing 1,502 kg.

He explained that the narcotics were intercepted in “six intelligence-driven operations” between Thursday, December 4 and Monday, December 15, 2025, across various locations in the state.

He noted that the seizure of the narcotics is particularly worrisome, given their far-reaching negative impact on the youth, public health, and national security.

Afeni, however, handed over the seized narcotics to Commander Ekundayo William of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Command, for further necessary actions in the spirit of inter-agency cooperation.

He declared that his command would continue to leverage technology, intelligence, and inter-agency collaboration to dismantle the criminal networks that do not serve the collective well-being of people and the safety of society.

Speaking on the other Contrabands intercepted within the period under review, the Ag. The controller disclosed that the gallant operatives of the command successfully intercepted an Iveco Truck with registration on 12th December 2025. No: RMY 354 XA laden with 4,998 cartons of foreign Pasta “Doga brand Spaghetti” 10Kg each and 419 cartons of Oba brand Spaghetti 10kg each illegally being imported into Nigeria from Turkey.

“Again, on 13 December 2025, our operatives intercepted a DAF truck with Reg. No. JHN-590-X, carrying 2,200 kegs of vegetable oil, 25 litres each of Indonesian origin. These food items are designated as contraband goods and are absolutely prohibited for importation in Nigeria. The combined Duty Paid Value of the food items stands at N291,260,000, while the trucks used as means of conveyance are worth N222 million.’’
